Despite The Past

Despite the past I love you
And forget when I reject you.
That’s wrong.
You played me for a fool
I’m done pretending I need you.
Regretting the fool.

Does that make any sense
I’m trying to say I forgive you
But that doesn’t rhyme with logic
So it comes out wrong.

It’s illogical
To try and make sense of the past
And let go of the hurt and pain you gave
But here I am now
As I attempt to forgive our past
And forget every thing that we went through

Despite the past I love you
And forget when I reject you.
That’s wrong.
You played me for a fool
I’m done pretending I need you.
Regretting the fool.

Where is my sanity
I should revoke your existence here
Would I be better if I did
But noting would change

It’s fantastical
To fantasize the past can change
It’s better to let go of all the heartache
Yet it still lingers
Dreams and hopes that won’t ever change
Yet I dream one day I can let it go

Despite the past I love you
And forget when I reject you.
That’s wrong.
You played me for a fool
I’m done pretending I need you.
Regretting the fool.

Therapy says to talk it out
We’d be here for days and weeks
I don’t need you any more
But I need to let you go... forever.

Despite the past I love you
And forget when I reject you.
That’s wrong.
You played me for a fool
I’m done pretending I need you.
Regretting the fool.
