We Were Perfect
This dreamscape
I’ve met the man of my dreams
Perfect in every way
What’s the catch.
Why would my subconscious lie to myself
Giving me everything as I slumber
It’s unfair
How could I end up playing myself.
It all seemed so realistic
Damn it
I loved you once in my dreams
Now awake I want to sleep
As we were perfect.
The truth isn’t what it seems
But this feeling runs so deep
Like we were perfect
In this haze
Truth and hope have intertwined
But dreams are lies we try
To make true
Fairy tales and happy endings are dumb
Foolish hopes of false opportunities .
Just a dream
Like the hopes of love of one like me
How would that be fantastic
Damn it
I loved you once in my dreams
Now awake I want to sleep
As we were perfect.
The truth isn’t what it seems
But this feeling runs so deep
Like we were perfect
Dreams, hopes, and fantasies
Love like this only exists
In manuscripts of lies
No matter all my tries
The idea of this resists
Dreams, hopes, and fantasies
I loved you once in my dreams
Now awake I want to sleep
As we were perfect.
The truth isn’t what it seems
But this feeling runs so deep
Like we were perfect
