What’s the New Year to Bring

Holidays ring in bitter things

Like how you left me

Mid December

Now I’m better off

Living my life

Enjoying whatever it brings

I once was a wantless tool

You could take advantage of

The chimes of December

Sounded like love

Then were the tones of death

Of you and I a goodbye

That was then and then it was now

What’s the new year to bring

I was innocent and naive

What’s the new year to bring

Now I’m jaded from the lies told

What’s the new year to bring

You proposed to me twice then

You left me three times

Like I meant nought

I had to find my

Way by myself

Learning you were just a chapter

Not a book that I’m defined by

Or anything that describes

In winter remember

The words of love

Aren’t so joyous, precious

The lies of it I cry why

That was then and then it was now

What’s the new year to bring

I was innocent and naive

What’s the new year to bring

Now I’m jaded from the lies told

What’s the new year to bring

I’m too bitter to be sweet

But I’m fine like a great wine

I’m to be enjoyed

In my way.

That was then and then it was now

What’s the new year to bring

I was innocent and naive

What’s the new year to bring

Now I’m jaded from the lies told

What’s the new year to bring
