Escape

I’m done with this

Nine to five

Required Overtime

Burnt out living to die

All I want

Is to escape

With no regrets

Just to escape

Day after day

It’s the same old thing

Do your best

Try and be strong

But here comes life

A commercial enterprise

Just To beat you down

Until you don’t want to

Exist

Resist

Don’t be a fool

A tool of an enterprise

You don’t accept

Yet it pays your bills

Find a way to rise above it

But… wait… what?

I’m done with this

Nine to five

Required Overtime

Burnt out living to die

All I want

Is to escape

With no regrets

Just to escape

What did I say

And what made me sing

I need rest

Long gone and wrong

Dealing with strife

Being strong but having cries

I deserve a crown

For living how I do

Survive

Persist

Dive in the pool

And someday we all will rise

Do you love me

Or just a cheap thrill.

Find a way to take advantage

But… wait… what?

I’m done with this

Nine to five

Required Overtime

Burnt out living to die

All I want

Is to escape

With no regrets

Just to escape

May it be the work frustration

Or my life’s aggregations.

I’m done

I need an escape.

I’m done with this

Nine to five

Required Overtime

Burnt out living to die

All I want

Is to escape

With no regrets

Just to escape

Square Dance

Let me take a moment

To stop

Reflect

And grow

I’ve spent so much bad time

But why

Did I

Waste it

Playing the victim card

I’m weak

And then

Blamed you

That’s dumb, I was young and irresponsible

I couldn’t own my mistakes in our romance

You were no hero but not the one villain.

A relationship takes two to tango

A failed one is a square dance

Throwing each one off to another

In an endless dance we’ve danced

Now that I am older

I see

And know

It’s wrong

That I blamed you alone

No one

We knew

Was safe

Everyone was involved

That saw

Or said

A thing

They did too much or they did nothing at all

Complicit bystanders but back to us please

We need to face it that we both fucked it up

A relationship takes two to tango

A failed one is a square dance

Throwing each one off to another

In an endless dance we’ve danced

5 6 7 8

Swing your allegations round and round

Grab a lie that’s by your side

Pass it off to the one that’s next

And let it rotate that mistake

A relationship takes two to tango

A failed one is a square dance

Throwing each one off to another

In an endless dance we’ve danced

Drown Out

Death, breath, death

The world comes at you fast

With no time to react

But I’m trying

With all my might

To keep my head above water

I’m trying to be a hero

But I’m sinking

Into the darkness

The silent emptiness

I sip and try and breathe

My drinks almost done

The liquor store closed

And the bar is too

How am I suppose to drown out everything I’m feeling.

The flood is long gone

That ending is deposed

So what can I do

How am I suppose to drown out everything I’m feeling.

Pain, scream, pain

Yes nothing ever lasts

More of life’s  painful facts

Where is the lie

Not in my sight

Can I try to tread this falter

I’m trying to move past zero

But I can’t add

Anything to this

Every try is a miss

I gasp and cry for me

My drinks almost done

The liquor store closed

And the bar is too

How am I suppose to drown out everything I’m feeling.

The flood is long gone

That ending is deposed

So what can I do

How am I suppose to drown out everything I’m feeling.

More and more and more

Until it’s all blurry and I don’t remember

Anything and that’s okay

Let me be numb rather than feel this pain

My drinks almost done

The liquor store closed

And the bar is too

How am I suppose to drown out everything I’m feeling.

The flood is long gone

That ending is deposed

So what can I do

How am I suppose to drown out everything I’m feeling.

When the Future is Involved

I don’t feel I belong here anymore

With a culture shift and realignment

I was the greatest but right now

I’m insignificant with these changes

Should I check out

Clock out

Resign

What’s this all about

My doubt

Realign.

Yesterday way perfect

Today has warning signs

Tomorrow means nothing

When the future is involved

Yessiree it’s perfect

Lies told with perfect lines

Words that don’t mean a thing

When the future is involved.

Checking with the boss I’m off right now so

I try To center my soul for what that means

Fuck Bureaucracy I’m saying

They are irrelevant and I’m standing

Should I give up

Let go

Resign

Is it a setup

I know

Realign

Yesterday way perfect

Today has warning signs

Tomorrow means nothing

When the future is involved

Yessiree it’s perfect

Lies told with perfect lines

Words that don’t mean a thing

When the future is involved.

You don’t know

If it’s time to resign

Or realign

But should I

Give up or checks out

What’s this about a set up

Resign realign.

Yesterday way perfect

Today has warning signs

Tomorrow means nothing

When the future is involved

Yessiree it’s perfect

Lies told with perfect lines

Words that don’t mean a thing

When the future is involved.

Afterlife

Death isn’t fair

Each time a love one dies

We slip further away and disconnect

Why don’t we do better

And try to stay combined

As a family.

With Andrea gone

She joins Naomi

Athel, Brooks, Maurice, Milton (daddy)

Johnny and Atwood plus the ones

Who preceded them.

What is right in the light

The afterlife

Why does “god” take the good ones

I cry

Away.

I shouldn’t care

I do with all my Cries

We slip away but want to reconnect

Who are we to be us

 And try to be honest

Within love

With Andrea gone

She joins Naomi

Athel, Brooks, Maurice, Milton (daddy)

Johnny and Atwood plus the ones

Who preceded them.

What is right in the light

The afterlife

Why does “god” take the good ones

I cry

Away.

The baby of the family

I’ve seen so much death

Since October 1984

But this one

Another baby

Feels so wrong.

What is right in the light

The afterlife

Why does “god” take the good ones

I cry

Away.

In The Aftermath

I have fallen in love again

But you stay in my mind

And I can't get my love to commit to me

When you still stay in my thoughts

One year later to the day

I celebrate my independence

And mourn the loss of material things

I'm happy where I am at now

But sad you couldn't be the one

Chad & Bryan

A duality in the aftermath

Both failed

To give me what I was looking for

Picture it the fall of 1 2

I was ruined for love

Trying so hard to find a peace that would fit

When every choice was so wrong

And to this day I’m better

Than I was when under your shadow.

I’ve morned my past without any regrets

Content to the point of bliss

But not foolish to what could be

Chad & Bryan

A duality in the aftermath

Both failed

To give me what I was looking for

Then there’s Jason, always a Jason

The fucked up harmony

I saw your flaws

Blinded by your lies

I forgave them

Like a fool

But then

At the end of the day

I ran away, as far as I dared

Chad & Bryan

A duality in the aftermath

Both failed

To give me what I was looking for

Each one worse than the last

One broke my heart

One broke my spirit

One broke a bone

Goodbye.

Living In The Dark

Most often words most flowery

The ones drenched in perfume

Hide the sharpest points

That we don’t want to share

But why do we care

To hide the true

Yet complain

Of living in the dark.

Someone can speak a thousand words

Without saying anything

And they could age for many years

Without ever living

We hide our true selves

Behind our best selves

Knowing it’s a lie

Here my words are just purity

So why do we resume

This endless damn dance

That we don’t want to bare

But why do we care

To hide the true

Yet complain

Of living in the dark.

We are blind but claim that we see

As our words can give us eyes

How much can you see with my words

If you don’t find them true

Words can kill me right now

Or can free me somehow

Knowing I can try

Why do words carry such duty

Why we do what we do

Lies to protect

Feelings we ignore

But why do we care

To hide the true

Yet complain

Of living in the dark.
