Living In The Dark

Most often words most flowery

The ones drenched in perfume

Hide the sharpest points

That we don’t want to share

But why do we care

To hide the true

Yet complain

Of living in the dark.

Someone can speak a thousand words

Without saying anything

And they could age for many years

Without ever living

We hide our true selves

Behind our best selves

Knowing it’s a lie

Here my words are just purity

So why do we resume

This endless damn dance

That we don’t want to bare

But why do we care

To hide the true

Yet complain

Of living in the dark.

We are blind but claim that we see

As our words can give us eyes

How much can you see with my words

If you don’t find them true

Words can kill me right now

Or can free me somehow

Knowing I can try

Why do words carry such duty

Why we do what we do

Lies to protect

Feelings we ignore

But why do we care

To hide the true

Yet complain

Of living in the dark.
