Time (is slippery), All I Know

Remember having aspirations 

Of the future

Childish dreams of who we could be

Well we are here now and 

Where do we stand. 

I reach for the future

Angrily

It should be mine 

Damn it

I don’t know what tomorrow means

Or what it has in store for me 

I’m living in the moment 

With baited breath. 

All I know for sure is the past

And maybe today

Tomorrow isn’t clear

And forever is more vague

It thought so much of my forever

When I had no clue 

Realistic dreams were unfulfilled  

Not without effort and 

Talent to stand 

The disappointment now

Is okay 

It should be fine 

But wait 

I can’t see how my story reads

Or how they feel about me

A story not fair 

But it’s okay.
